Marios Sekadakis is a Civil – Transportation Engineer, Research Associate and PhD Candidate at the Department of Transportation Planning and Engineering at the School of Civil Engineering of the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA). In 2020, he graduated in Civil Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) majoring in Transportation Engineering. He has more than five years of experience in several aspects of road safety and traffic engineering. He has published 15 papers in scientific journals, 3 book chapters, and 16 papers in scientific conferences. He is actively contributing to the CCAM Association.

Research projects

Participation in two (2) research project in the field of Transportation Planning and Engineering, assigned by the European Commission:

  • HADRIAN: “Holistic Approach for Driver Role Integration and Automation Allocation for European Mobility Needs” of the Horizons 2020 framework programme on transport research of the European Commission (2020-2023) 
      • NTUA led and supervised the successful execution of safety and impact assessments for a range of innovations in automated driving throughout the project, focusing on Human-Machine Interface (HMI), level transitions, and take-over responses.
  • SHOW: “SHared automation Operating models for Worldwide adoption” of the Horizons 2020 framework programme on transport research of the European Commission (2020-2024) 
        • NTUA led the safety assessment of automated driving across the innovative SHOW pilot sites in over 20 EU cities. In addition to this leadership, NTUA supported by simulating automated shuttles at the Madrid Mega site and developing an inclusive simulation suite tool. NTUA further contributed by creating a Policy Support Tool (PST) to aid various pilot sites.
