The aim of this project is to evaluate the safety improvements achieved through Human Machine Interfaces (HMIs) in Automated Driving (AD) systems up to SAE level 3. The analysis will focus on comparing the HMI with existing HMI systems, assessing safety, particularly in terms of transition requests and takeover performance. The results are expected to demonstrate that the new HMI significantly enhances safety by improving takeover performance. Additionally, the findings will provide guidelines for safer human-centered AD technologies and recommendations for future policy making.
