This paper examines the traffic parameters on port land areas related to the re-organisation of port operations in Attiki passenger ports (Piraeus, Rafina, Lavrio), as a consequence of the operation of the Olympic Village on board the cruise ships at the port of Piraeus. The identification of the capacity of the land areas available, together with the port basin restrictions allowed for the selection of the vessel berths, which were subsequently designed in order to fully meet the involved traffic service requirements. A complete proposal for traffic flows and parking provisions for all vehicle categories (passenger cars, taxis, buses) was prepared, which was proved successful during the Athens 2004 Olympic Games.
