This study presents and compares the characteristics of road accidents data registration systems used in each Member-State of the E.C. It describes and compares the twelve different accident registration records and the twelve different registration procedures. Comparison in Community level of each one sub-system of the chain accidents data registration – elaboration, showed important dissimilarities between the twelve approaches with very few convergence elements. This study makes obvious the need for a “Community” approach of the road accidents data registration and elaboration system.
