The aim of this research is to explore the possibilities of developing a European Research Cloud (TRC) as a subset of the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC), capturing the current situation, barriers, needs, but also its potential benefits. The research revealed that research transport data should be precisely defined and incentives and and the necessary training should be provided to researchers in order to use such databases. Data collection standards, the necessary metadata for their description, as well as infrastructure and functional requirements should also be defined in order to ensure an appropriate level of service. The above results and the implementation of the recommendations are expected to contribute to making the research community more familiar to the concept of “open data” and the TRC to be a viable and highly valuable asset for research in the field of transport in the European Union.
