On the basis of experience from the most recent Olympic Games, it can be argued that the organisation of the Games requires a huge effort of infrastructure upgrade (transport, telecommunications, etc.) of the Olympic city in order to satisfy the increased needs of the Olympic family and the spectators.  Appropriate infrastructure supports not only the promotion of Olympic ideals but changes also for ever the life of the Olympic city citizens.
