Road crashes reduction is a national goal, as pointed out by Mr.
Κostas Karamanlis, Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, at the 8th Conference on Road Safety and Simulation (
RSS2022) on June 8, 2022. Mr. Karamanlis referred to the new National Road Safety Strategic Plan for the period 2021-2030, an integrated policy, based on the fourfold:
Safe roads - Responsible drivers - Traffic education - Fair rules for all. He also highlighted that in this context, specific quantitative targets are set, on the one hand for the reduction of fatal road crashes by 50% by 2030 and on the other hand, for the improvement of road safety performance indicators, such as speeding, seat belt, helmet, alcohol, use of mobile phone while driving and the crucial issue of post-crash care.
