Basic characteristics of road fatalities in Greece for the period 1991 – 2010 are summarised in a comprehensive Table (data source:ELSTAT). After 20 years, there are about 800 less road fatalities per year in Greece. According to these time series data an important decrease in road fatalities for young people and pedestrians is observed during the last decade, as well as a spectacular decrease in fatalities outside urban areas. On the contrary fatalities decrease during the last decade is limited for motorcyclists and older drivers.
